Form Follows Faith - Genesis - Eden’s Hut
Part I - Using the Text to Create Shapes
In architecture theory, there is a concept know as the “primitive hut” by Marc-Antoine Laurier. The theory conceptualizes the first piece of architecture ever created by humans.
In Chapter 1 of Genesis from the Bible, God intentional creates with his voice (repeatedly) and calls his creation Good (repeatedly).
This edition of Form Follows Faith, I analyze the first chapter of Genesis in its English (NIV) translation and through a process create a conceptual Primitive Hut…. Eden’s Hut.

Part II - Tracing Shapes
Beginning with the initial shape from “Part I”, selections from Byzantine art, scans from Hebrew scrolls, and scans from zoological archives, various shapes are created by tracing the outlines of images which are then layered over each other.
These traced outlines are combined to create new shapes.

Part III - From Shapes to Eden’s Hut
Of the many shapes created during “Part II”, some shapes are selected and then combined to create a 3D object, Eden’s Hut.
Comprised of whittled branches and thatching, Eden’s Hut flanks two streams and rests in a field surrounded by trees.
