CLIMATE ANALYSIS

The village’s electricity is supplied by a cable that runs into nearby Nuzvid. Despite this source of electricity, its usability it inconsistent. Most electricity is used to power air movement and lighting space. Since the climate of the region is hot and humid, static air is highly uncomfortable and even dangerous due to mosquitoes carrying disease. To offset the electric demands, the jail screen system is used. This screen system is seen widely within the vernacular architecture as it provides natural ventilation while also privacy to the interior. The upper position of the interior walls are screened to allow air to move freely. The screen then requires a chhajja, to shield rain from entering the space. Additionally, the open waiting room next to the courtyard gives free air movement between the spaces.
